Carly Pearce, Jennifer Nettles and Carter Faith featured on soundtrack to Netflix’s upcoming ‘Heartland’

Netflix’s upcoming country music thriller Heartland will arrive with a 15-track soundtrack featuring performances from Jennifer Nettles, Carly Pearce, Carter Faith, Jessica Chastain, Ross Lynch, Margo Price and other Nashville artists. The soundtrack is overseen by Grammy-winning music supervisor Randall Poster and draws on a mix of established country performers and emerging artists.

Chastain, who stars as former country music icon Misty Jones, performs throughout the project, including the newly released title track, “Heartland,” with Nettles. The song is a cover of Hailey Whitters’ original and was written by Whitters, Nicolle Galyon and Forrest Whitehead. Nettles also contributes “You’re Gonna Burn For That,” while Pearce performs “Ready & Waiting.” Faith, who makes her acting debut as Misty’s missing niece, rising country singer Charlie Heart, appears on “Still the Sparrow Sings” and “Honeycomb,” the latter featuring Trannie Anderson.

The soundtrack also features a broad range of country and Americana talent. Lynch performs “Heartbreak Country,” while Channing Wilson contributes “Tall Tall Trees.” John Hawkes and Margo Price team up on “Too Late For Coffee, Too Early for Beer,” with additional performances from Jace Jacobs, Charlie Heart, Eddy Dunlap, Heart Sisters and David “Fergie” Ferguson. The album also includes “Family Ties” by Chastain and “Shouldn’t Have Called” by Chastain and Hawkes. Additional tracks are written by Nashville songwriters including Jessi Alexander, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hillary Lindsey, Roger Miller, Don Schlitz and Whitters, with production contributions from Tofer Brown, Kristian Bush, David Ferguson, Stewart Lerman, Frank Liddell and Eric Masse. Both the film and soundtrack are scheduled for release Nov. 13.

Directed by Shana Feste, the film follows Misty, a former country star who has withdrawn from the public eye and returns to Nashville after her niece disappears. Her search leads her into the darker side of the city’s music industry while forcing her to confront her own past. Faith, a rising country artist, plays Charlie, while Nettles portrays country singer Winnie Jo Lean. The film also stars Garrett Hedlund, Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz and others.
