Madonna, Taylor Swift and BTS were among the biggest winners at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, with Madonna collecting seven trophies and Swift taking home Video of the Year. The ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Peacock Theater, also saw BTS win three awards, including Song of the Year for “Swim.”
Swift won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and Best Direction for “Opalite.” She also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, giving her 32 VMA wins and making her the most-awarded artist in the show’s history. Swift dedicated the Video of the Year honor to the late Dolly Parton. Madonna was named Artist of the Year and won Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love,” Best Dance, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Long Form Video and Best Album for “Confessions II.”
BTS won Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for “Swim,” along with Best Group. LISA won Best Pop for “Dream” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, while Cardi B and Kehlani took Best Hip-Hop for “Safe.” Bruno Mars won Best R&B for “I Just Might,” Olivia Rodrigo won Best Alternative for “the cure,” Bad Bunny won Best Latin for “NUEVAYoL” and Ella Langley won Best Country for “Choosin’ Texas.” Sienna Spiro was named Best New Artist.
Other winners included PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson for Best Art Direction for “Stateside,” Sabrina Carpenter for Best Editing for “House Tour,” Ariana Grande for Best Visual Effects for “hate that i made you love me” and Best Song of Summer for the same song. Nirvana also received the Video Vanguard Award, while the ceremony featured performances and tributes honoring Dolly Parton and George Michael.
