Little Big Town is preparing to release its 12th studio album, It’s a Dying Art, marking the group’s first full-length project in nearly three years. The album, produced with longtime collaborator Jay Joyce, is scheduled to arrive Aug. 21.
Comprised of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook, LBT said the album was shaped by conversations about authenticity, relationships and the importance of slowing down creatively. The title itself reflects the band’s belief that meaningful communication and emotional honesty have become harder to preserve. “It’s a Dying Art” also serves as the project’s lead single, blending the harmony-driven sound that has defined the group’s career with a more introspective tone.
The announcement arrives alongside the release of the track ‘Over and Over,’ written by Fairchild, Ashley Ray, Jonnie Simpson and Madi Yanofsky. The group delivered the debut performance of the song during their set at this year’s Stagecoach. Stream: HERE.
The group had previously shared their first original release in two years with the track “Hey There Sunshine”, produced by Gena Johnson. Speaking about the song, Fairchild shared, “Songs are truly the most profound gifts. We’re honored this one found its way to us. It’s a reminder of all the beauty around us and that it’s never too late to find it.”
The accompanying music video for “Hey There Sunshine” was directed by Becky Fluke and Reid Long, known for work with artists including Eric Church, Brothers Osborne, and The Black Keys. Check out the video – HERE.
